Structure and functions
The prostate gland (prostate) is an unpaired exocrine gland of the male sexual system, the anatomical location of which determines its main functions. It has a certain shape, with age it increases in size and partially changes its appearance. The PG is represented by glandular and muscular tissue. The glandular tissue is the source of hormone formation and prostatic juice, the muscular tissue is responsible for the regulation of the lumen of the urethra.

Prostatitis is an acute or chronic inflammatory disease of the prostate gland. The acute form is characterised by a pronounced symptomatology. In the absence of adequate therapy, it passes into a chronic form. This variant of prostatitis is less amenable to treatment, can lead to malignant degeneration of the gland tissue.
