Thyroid
It has the shape of a butterfly spreading its wings (it consists of two lobes connected by a bridge), it weighs about 25 grams and is located directly in front of the trachea under the larynx on the surface of the thyroid cartilage. It refers to the glands of internal secretion. It secretes iodine-containing hormones directly into the blood and lymphatic system of the body which include thyroxine (T 4) and triiodothyronine (T 3).
The functions of the thyroid gland cannot be overestimated since it is the most important organ regulating metabolism! In addition to managing energy and metabolism the thyroid gland is involved in other equally important processes:
growth stimulation, the maturation of cells and tissues and the prevention of the premature wear of bone tissue (due to production of non-iodinated calcitonin), etc.
Malfunctions in the functioning of thyroid follicles lead to serious diseases including cramps, loss of teeth, dystrophy and obesity. Depending on its specific pathology, two types of disorders in the generation of iodine-containing hormones can occur:
- hypothyroidism (reduced secretion of thyroxine and triiodothyronine) and
- hyperthyroidism (abnormally intense production of thyroxine and triiodothyronine).
There are many causes of thyroid dysfunction. The most common is an insufficient amount of iodine in food and during this state the volume of the gland increases and a goiter forms on the thyroid cartilage. In severe cases, children develop physical and mental retardation (cretinism).
In order for the thyroid gland to work as it should, take special dietary supplements regularly! These supplements are sold in our online store: our dietary supplements are completely safe and their high efficiency has been repeatedly proven with clinical trials.
